What should you know about processing tomatoes?
Processing tomatoes have different requirements from those intended for fresh consumption. In the development of varieties for the processing industry, the focus is not only on high yield and resistance to important economically significant diseases and harmful pests, but also on additional characteristics that correspond to the final product being prepared for the market. Thus, processing tomatoes can be divided into three main categories: canned tomatoes, tomato paste and tomato sauces plus ketchup.
Therefore, when growing tomatoes for processing, it is of utmost importance to have a clear vision of their intended use. In the canned whole tomato industry, for example, the elongated shape of the tomato variety, the firmness of the fruit and the ease of peeling are of significance.

Heinz tomato variety, offered on the Bulgarian market by the company Phyto Terra, is a mid-late tomato variety with a vegetation period of 75–80 days. It is intended for open-field cultivation, for summer-autumn harvest. The fruits are round in shape, weighing about 120–150 grams.
The Heinz variety is resistant to diseases such as Verticillium wilt and Fusarium.
The tomatoes are crack-resistant, provide good yields, have high Brix (sugar content) and above all are tasty!
