BABH seized illegal pesticides from Turkey

During a joint inspection carried out by inspectors from the Plant Protection Department at the Regional Food Safety Directorate (RFSD) Sliven and representatives of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior (RDMI) Sliven on a road section near a populated area in the municipality of Sliven, a minibus with Sliven registration was detained for transporting plant protection products not authorized for use, in violation of the Plant Protection Act, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) announced.
The person who committed the violation is the driver of the minibus, who on 10 May 2018 transported the consignment for commercial purposes.
During the inspection it was established that the plant protection products in the minibus were herbicides of Turkish origin, with labels in the Turkish language, in canisters of various sizes. The total number of canisters is 100, in which the presence of 180 litres of pesticides was found.
The entire quantity of illegal products was seized during the inspection by the Plant Protection inspectors with a protocol for the seizure of PPPs.
The consignment was transported to RFSD Sliven and stored in a secured facility. During the inspection, Statement of Findings No. 000061/10.05.2018 and an Act establishing an administrative offence were drawn up.
The Ministry of Interior authorities are continuing the investigation of the case with the assistance of the inspectors from RFSD Sliven.
