On 9 April, issue 3/2018 of the journal „Plant Protection“ is expected to be released from print. The topic of the issue is berry crops – status and trends in their production. We will acquaint you in detail with the new diseases in berry plantations, as well as with the economically important fungal diseases in raspberry. You will learn which pests attack strawberries and raspberries and which are the standard and promising cultivars for cultivation in Bulgaria. Last but not least, in the topic on berry crops you can also read about the economic effect of organic raspberry production. Water stress is a leading factor in the cultivation and production of raspberries. In recent years there has been a persistent trend towards an increase in summer temperatures and a decrease in average precipitation. How and in what way all this exerts a harmful influence on the growth and development of raspberry plants you will find out only in issue 3/2018 of the journal „Plant Protection“.
Fruit species are attacked by a number of diseases and pests which impair the quality of the produce. Two methods are used for the protection of fruit crops from harmful organisms – agrotechnical and chemical. Modern plant protection combines both, focusing on integrated control, which is more effective and reliable. In this issue you will learn which are the six main rules for successful plant protection.
In the section „Traffic light“ we will remind you that blossom sprays are an important element of the plant protection chain in fruit crops.
And did you know that during the vegetation period and storage, onion crops are attacked by various diseases and pests, which you will learn about in this issue.
In four consecutive issues of the journal „Plant Protection“ we will publish interviews with farmers who are clients of „Viola“ SA, the trading company for pesticides, fertilizers and seeds, based in Sliven. In this issue, expect the conversation with Nedelcho Popov, chairman of the agricultural cooperative „Tundzha 94“ in the village of Panicherevo, Stara Zagora region. For him, agriculture today is above all labour, qualification, entrepreneurship, resourcefulness and half a pinch of luck.
In the insert „Dangerous pathogens in agricultural crops” Chief Assistant Professor Dr. Yordanka Stanoeva will present rusts in cereal crops – yellow and brown.
