State aid for potato producers for combating soil pests for 2018

The Management Board of the State Fund „Agriculture“ approved a financial resource of BGN 1 million for 2018 under the State aid scheme for compensating the expenses of farmers for the purchase of plant protection products for the control of soil pests in potatoes. The activities are in implementation of the National Programme of measures for the control of soil pests in potatoes from the family Wireworms (Elateridae).

The aid is provided in the form of compensation of part of the farmers’ expenses for the purchase of plant protection products for the control of the soil pest.

The scheme was notified to the European Commission in June 2015 and is applicable until 2020. The purpose of the aid is to limit losses from the spread of soil pests in potatoes on the territory of Bulgaria.

Potato producers may apply for support from 20 March to 15 May. Applications under the scheme will be accepted at the regional directorates of the Fund. By 31 May farmers must submit accounting documents for the activities carried out for the treatment of potato plantations. The deadline for concluding contracts and payment of the aid is 22 June 2018.
