Financial compensations for the control of tomato leafminer in 2017

The State Fund “Agriculture” has paid 994,315 leva to 149 farmers under the State Aid Scheme for compensating costs related to the implementation of measures under the National Programme of measures for the control of the Tomato leafminer - Tuta absoluta Meyrick (Lepidoptera).

In order to receive financial support, applicants under the scheme had to submit accounting documents for the purchased and applied plant protection products for the control of the tomato leafminer. The support is up to BGN 250 per decare (BGN 2,500 per hectare) and aims to cover part of the expenses incurred by farmers for eliminating the pest infestation. The total area declared by the farmers is 1,652 ha.

The total budget under the scheme for 2017 is 1 million leva. The funds compensate the expenses of vegetable producers for the purchase of plant protection products and means against the tomato leafminer.
