Допълнitional financial resource has been provided for the control of pests in perennial crops during the winter period

The Management Board of the State Fund „Agriculture“ adopted a decision to allocate an additional financial resource of BGN 667,127 for 2017 under the state aid scheme „Aid for compensating the costs of farmers related to the implementation of measures under the National Programme for Pest Control in Permanent Crops during the Winter Period”. The total resource under the scheme for 2017 is increased from BGN 4,000,000 to BGN 4,667,127. In this way, BGN 1,300,000 are provided for the autumn stage of the aid.

The purpose of the aid is to limit losses from the spread of pests in permanent fruit plantations (pome and stone fruit species), strawberries and raspberries, which are affected by the measures for control and eradication applied outside the vegetation period of the crops, and through which overwintering forms of pests are destroyed. The aid is granted to small and medium-sized enterprises to compensate part of the costs of farmers for the purchase of plant protection products and products for accelerating the processes of leaf decay in fruit species, strawberries and raspberries for winter spraying. It covers up to 100% of the costs for the purchase of plant protection products and products for accelerating the processes of leaf decay.

The deadline for submitting applications for the aid is from 16 to 31 October 2017. By 17 November 2017 the submitted documents will be reported and verified. The funds will be paid by 08 December 2017.

Farmers show great interest in the state aid. It should be recalled that in 2016 a total of BGN 3,771,892 were absorbed under this measure. Of these, during the first stage BGN 2,724,935 were paid to 2,145 farmers, and during the second stage – 1,791 fruit growers received BGN 1,046,957.
