State aid for potato producers for combating soil pests 2017

The Management Board of the State Fund “Agriculture” approved a financial resource of BGN 1 million for 2017 under the State Aid Scheme for compensating the costs of farmers for the purchase of plant protection products for the control of soil pests in potatoes.

The aid is provided in the form of compensation for part of the costs incurred by farmers for the purchase of plant protection products for the control of soil pests. The scheme is aimed at the implementation of the National Programme of measures for the control of soil pests in potatoes from the family Wireworms (Elateridae).

It was notified to the European Commission in June 2015 and has an implementation period until 2020. The purpose of the aid is to limit the losses from the spread of soil pests in potatoes on the territory of Bulgaria.

Application

Potato producers may apply for support from 20 March to 12 May. Applications under the scheme will be accepted at the regional directorates of the Fund. By 30 May, farmers must submit reporting documents for the activities carried out for the treatment of potato plantations. The deadline for concluding contracts and paying the aid is 20 June 2017.
