The beetles gnaw on the swollen buds, flowers, and leaves. They lay their eggs in the green fruits. The hatched larvae bore into the still soft pit and feed on the kernel, without affecting the fleshy part. The damaged fruits do not grow evenly, remain small, and become deformed.
