Festival of the honeydew honey in Tsarevo

The Minister of Agriculture and Food, Desislava Taneva, will open the 12th edition of the Strandzha Manov Honey festival in Tsarevo Municipality today.

The Festival of Strandzha Manov Honey and Bee Pollen "Tsarevo - The Kingdom of Manov Honey" will be held in Tsarevo from August 1 to 10.

The exhibition has been gathering beekeepers from across the country for 12 years now and aims to promote the diversity of bee products. A focus of the upcoming event will be the manov honey from the Strandzha region, which is one of the symbols of this area. The characteristic formation of this forest elixir, its specific dark color, and rich nutritional values attract enthusiasts and specialists from near and far. It is produced from the honeydew on oak and linden leaves, from which it also gets its name "manov". This honeydew is created with the help of insects that pierce the leaves of plants. The insects feed on one part of the sweet sap that flows out, and the remaining part is secreted onto the leaves in the form of a sticky liquid. When there are no nectar plants around, the bees collect this honeydew and turn it into honey. Manov honey is known for its beneficial properties. It is rich in minerals, carbohydrates, vitamins, monosaccharides, and folic acid.

The official opening of the twelfth consecutive festival is at 10:00 AM on August 1 in the center of Tsarevo. The event will be attended by Minister Desislava Taneva, Tsarevo Municipality Mayor Eng. Georgi Lapchev, Kirilka Yanina, Head of the "Beekeeping, Milk, and Interventions" Department, Anna Petrova, Senior Expert for Measure 6.1 "Start-up Aid for Young Farmers", Irina Lazarova – Director of the "Agricultural Market Mechanisms" Directorate (AMM), Silvia Vasileva – Head of the "Livestock and Genetic Resources" Department, and others.
