At Vinaria 2017 exactly 83 wines were distinguished with medals by the international jury. 50 of them became holders of gold awards.

Villa Yambol received the highest number of prizes – 9 gold and 4 silver medals.

 

In keeping with tradition at Vinaria, students from the degree programmes “Wine Technology” and “Fermentation Products Technology” at the University of Food Technologies took the Dionysian Oath for entering the vine- and wine-growing sector and received a special diploma from the National Vine and Wine Chamber.

For the first time an award was presented – Recommended Wine from a Local Variety. The winner was announced as a white wine from the Red Misket variety, produced by Karabunar Winery. The special award for contribution to the development of the vine- and wine-growing sector was presented to Eng. Kosta Kostov from Vinprom Sandanski for his 50 years of experience in the field.

Villa Yambol received the highest number of prizes – 9 gold and 4 silver medals, thereby winning the National Vine and Wine Chamber’s award – Barrel of the Year.

 

Golden Rhyton and Golden Phiale:

Golden Rhyton for white wine from the latest vintage – Kabile Chardonnay & Sauvignon Blanc by Villa Yambol.

For white wine from an older vintage, Chardonnay Elenovo by Edoardo Miroglio was distinguished.

In the category Rosé Varietal and Blended Wines from the Latest Vintage, Grand Prix Golden Rhythm Rosé by Cherno More Zlatno (Black Sea Gold) was distinguished.

For the first time in its history, Oryahovitsa Winery won a Golden Rhyton for rosé from older vintages – Gaetan Rose.

The Golden Rhyton for red wines from the latest vintage was awarded to Villa Marvella Cabernet Franc by Black Sea Gold.

In the category Red Varietal and Blended Wines from Older Vintages, the Rhyton was presented to Rubaiyat Red Blend by Vinex Preslav.

The Golden Phiale was received by the Executive Director of Vinprom Peshtera – Plamen Baykov, for the grape rakia Peshterska Muskatova.
