Free training courses for fruit growers and vine growers from the Institute of Agriculture in Kyustendil

The Institute of Agriculture – Kyustendil at the Agricultural Academy is starting the new year with the project “Sustainable Agrobiological Solutions in Agriculture”. The project is implemented under the intervention “Training and acquisition of knowledge” of the Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture, and its objective is to enhance the knowledge and skills of agricultural producers and their holdings, as well as to increase interest in fruit growing, viticulture and vegetable production.

The training under the project will be divided into two parts – theoretical and practical. During the theoretical part Prof. Dimitar Sotirov will deliver lectures on the topic of pruning woody fruit species, the types of pruning operations, when they are applied and how they affect the growth and yields of the young trees. Assoc. Prof. Simeon Krumov will present the pruning operations in the vine – the rules, systems and types of training forms.

The second part of the training will take place in the experimental plantations of the Institute of Agriculture, where the specialists will demonstrate in practice the pruning of fruit trees, the methods of their propagation, as well as the work with pruning shears in the vineyards.

It is envisaged to conduct six training sessions for farmers, with the first session starting on 27 February 2026.

The training is free of charge, but farmers must register in advance and provide their unique identification number and personal data.

Participants who complete the training will receive a certificate for completed training.
