At the end of August, the agrometeorological conditions were characterized by above-normal temperatures and lack of precipitation, which had a negative impact on the final stages of development of late spring crops and hindered the proper execution of pre-sowing soil tillage.
During the following period, the agrometeorological conditions will be determined by temperatures close to the climatic norms. At the beginning of the period, economically significant precipitation is forecast in places in Northeastern Bulgaria. During the period, sunflower will be predominantly at the stage of technical maturity. In late maize hybrids, the milk and wax ripeness stages will occur. The optimal period for sowing winter rapeseed areas is underway. In many regions, soil drought will impede agrotechnical activities and the sowing of winter rapeseed. This will necessitate later sowing, with the possible sowing period extending until the end of the month. In apple orchards, the harmful activity of the second generation of codling moth is monitored and, if necessary, treatments against the pest are carried out. Seed disinfection is carried out on wheat and barley intended for autumn sowing against seed-borne diseases (common bunt, loose smut, septoria leaf blotch, and fusarium diseases).
Conditions will be suitable for harvesting spring crops that have reached technical maturity, for carrying out plant protection activities in perennial crops, and for harvesting fruit and vegetable production.
