At the end of June, the traditional Cherry Festival in Kyustendil will take place

The Cherry Festival is held annually in the town of Kyustendil at the end of June. Every year, guests and residents of the town can taste different cherry varieties from the surrounding area.

The Cherry Festival will last three days and in 2024 it will take place on 28, 29 and 30 June, according to Kyustendil Municipality, one of the organizers of the event together with the Institute of Agriculture – Kyustendil.

The official opening of the Cherry Festival is on 28 June at 19:00. This is also when the big ice cream surprise begins – the Galactic Nitro Laboratory with pastry chefs Radi Stambolov and Borislav Exarchov. The chefs, together with the Mayor of Kyustendil, Eng. Ognyan Atanasov, will prepare over 1,500 ice creams with liquid nitrogen, which will be distributed to those present. One of the ingredients of the ice cream is cherry syrup made from the delicious Kyustendil fruit.

The second day of the festival – 29 June, will offer a vast variety of cherries and cherry-themed works of art.

The programme envisages that experts from the Institute of Agriculture – Kyustendil will present the most promising varieties grown in the region. There will also be competitive games with cherries, fine Bulgarian music, and numerous commercial stands will delight the visitors of the festival, which will conclude with a lavish concert.

The Cherry Festival in Kyustendil offers a rich musical programme, competitive games with cherries, cherry art studios, a big ice cream surprise, a place for relaxation among cherry specialties and unique works of art and culinary creations made with the fruit traditional for the region.
