At the end of February, the agrometeorological conditions will continue to be determined by average daily temperatures above the biological minimum required for the resumption and progression of the vegetative processes in winter cereal crops. At the end of the autumn-winter period of moisture accumulation, soil moisture reserves in arable land in the one-meter layer are from 70% to 90% of field capacity (FC).

During the period, in late-sown wheat and barley stands lagging in their development, the third leaf growth stage will be observed. The tillering stage will be observed in the stands in the Danube Plain and in isolated locations in the southern regions of the country – agrometeorological stations Băzovec, Knezha, Novachene, Nikolaevo, Dolni Chiflik, Targovishte, Silistra, Lyubimets, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Kyustendil and Sandanski. In stone fruit species, bud swelling will occur.

During most days of the period, with the exception of some places in the western regions where precipitation is forecast, conditions will be suitable for: soil tillage in fields intended for sowing with spring crops; pruning and plant protection spraying in permanent crops; inspection of wheat and barley stands for the presence and harmful activity of the common vole and the larvae of the wheat ground beetle. In view of the resumption of vegetation in winter cereal crops, priority should be given to completing nitrogen fertilization of the stands.
