Promulgated Ordinance No. 9 of 26 May 2016 on the conditions and procedure for issuing authorisations for the planting of vineyards, regulating the Authorisation regime for vine plantings applicable after 31 December 2015, shall enter into force on 15 June 2016.

An exception is made for Chapter Three of the Ordinance, which regulates the issuing of authorisations for new vine plantings and enters into force as of today. The authorisation for new plantings makes it possible to plant new vine plantings when the producer does not have planting rights to convert and has no old vineyards for renewal.

Applications for the issuing of authorisations for new plantings shall be submitted each year for an area representing 1% of the total area of planted vineyards in the country as at 31 July of the previous year. They are submitted within a period fixed by order of the Executive Director of the EAVW and, after the completion of the application intake, depending on whether the area designated for allocation is sufficient for the approved applications, authorisations shall be issued for all approved areas or proportionally for part of them. The issuing of authorisations for new plantings shall be carried out by 1 August.
