As part of the traditional Festival of Fertility, which begins today, September 26, and will continue for two days, the Institute of Agriculture in Kyustendil is celebrating 85 years since its establishment. The 65th anniversary of Prof. Dimitar Yordanov Domozetov will also be marked.
The festival promotes Kyustendil as the "Mother of Fruit Growing", and is a natural legacy of the First National Fruit Growing Competition held in 1986.
The program is rich and will feature 160 apple varieties, as well as the latest global trends in fruit growing. A report on the achievements of the Institute of Agriculture, the prospects for its development and for agriculture in Bulgaria is also included. The national scientific conference with international participation on the topic "sustainable agriculture - science and practice" is also eagerly anticipated.
The Festival of Fertility has a competitive nature, with awards for the best and most attractive presentation by the participants, thereby encouraging producers. The most beautifully arranged stands will be evaluated and awarded by a special jury, and there will also be prizes for the largest apple and the most attractive fruits and vegetables.
The official opening of the "Festival of Fertility" will begin at 5:30 PM at "Velbazhd" Square.
