The innovative platform “International Field Days” is also launching in Bulgaria

From 5 to 7 June, the first exhibition “International Field Days Bulgaria 2018” is being held in Plovdiv. The organizer of the event is DLG Field Days Bulgaria (a subsidiary of the German company DLG International) in cooperation with the Agricultural University of Plovdiv. The general sponsor of the event is the German company BASF.

“International Field Days” is an established innovative platform and a meeting place for agricultural producers, companies for agrochemicals, fertilizers, seeds and agricultural machinery. Modern varieties and hybrids, new crop protection and fertilization technologies, state-of-the-art machinery and sprayers, and the latest developments in the field of precision agriculture – all this will be available for Bulgarian farmers to see live over the course of three days, as well as to participate in various seminars and discussions.

Around 50 companies – Bulgarian and foreign – are presenting the results of their products. Three institutes of the Agricultural Academy are also participating in the platform – the Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute in Plovdiv, the Institute of Plant and Genetic Resources in Sadovo, and the Rose Research Institute in Kazanlak.

On an area of 150 decares at the training and experimental field of the Agricultural University of Plovdiv, over 500 m of irrigation facilities have been installed, 52 trial plots have been designated, cultivated and sown with crops, and almost 10 ha of grassed areas have been prepared for the alleys and parking zones.

A welcome address to the participants and guests was delivered by Prof. Hristina Yancheva, Rector of the Agricultural University of Plovdiv, who shared that this is an ambitious event at which Bulgarian and foreign exhibitors and visitors have the unique opportunity to meet and share their achievements and ideas for modern and profitable agriculture. The Executive Director of DLG International, Mr. Bernd Koch, noted that “International Field Days Bulgaria 2018” provides visitors with the opportunity to experience high-quality products and technologies first-hand. Varban Varbanov, Sales Manager of BASF for Southern Bulgaria, emphasized that the company has always supported and will continue to support all initiatives that show what exactly is happening in the field and will encourage the transfer of knowledge.
