Plant Health: Role, Importance and Perspectives

Traditionally, this year as well, on 16 January 2018 in Plovdiv all representatives and friends of the plant protection sector will gather to mark 122 years since the establishment and development of plant protection in Bulgaria.

The celebration is organized by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA), the Bulgarian Association for Plant Protection (BAPP) and the Association of Plant Protection Industry in Bulgaria (APPIB). The event will be held under the motto: “Plant health: role, importance and perspectives“.

13:45 Overview report from the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency, Nikolay Rosnev, Deputy Executive Director of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency

14:00 Overview report from the Association of Plant Protection Industry in Bulgaria, Neli Yordanova, Director General of APPIB

14:15 Overview report from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Petar Nikolov, Chair of the Managing Board of BAPP.

14:30 The Plant Protection Society of Serbia will be presented by its President, Dr. Brankica Tanovic.

PLANT PROTECTION FORUM: SCIENTIFIC REPORTS

15:00 During the plant protection forum Prof. Sc.D. Svetoslav Bobev from the Agricultural University will speak on the topic “Plant diseases – an eternal and dynamic challenge“.

15:15 “Monitoring of fruit moths – a prerequisite for reducing chemical treatments in orchards“ is the scientific report of Prof. Dr. Radoslav Andreev from the Agricultural University.

15:30 “The role of anthropogenic factors in modern plant protection“ will be presented by Assoc. Prof. Antoniy Stoev from the “Phytopathology“ Department, Institute of Soil Science, Agrotechnology and Plant Protection “N. Poushkarov“.15:45 “Alien species in the agrocenoses of Bulgaria – impacts and threats“ is the report of Prof. Rumen Tomov from the University of Forestry in Sofia.

16:00 “Scale insects in Bulgaria“ is the topic that will be presented by Assoc. Prof. Katya Trencheva from the University of Forestry, Sofia

The plant protection forum will take place in the building of the Agricultural University in Plovdiv, Auditorium 7, and the traditional Plant Protection Ball – in the restaurant of the ""Saint Petersburg" Hotel, Plovdiv
