The warm for the season weather during the past seven-day period, with maximum temperatures reaching in places up to 17-18°C, led to the resumption of vegetative processes in autumn-sown crops in some of the field regions of the country and triggered undesirable, premature bud swelling in certain tree species.

During the forthcoming period, agrometeorological conditions will be determined by above-normal temperatures, but their average daily values will not exceed the biological minimum required for the vegetation of winter cereal crops. Exceptions will be observed only in isolated locations along the Black Sea coast and in the southern regions of the country.

At the beginning of January, temperatures will undergo a substantial change. The forecast cooling will restore dormancy in winter cereal crops. At the beginning of the year, wheat stands will be predominantly in the tillering stage, and rapeseed in the rosette stage – stages suitable for overwintering.

By the middle of the first ten-day period of January, no critical minimum temperatures for agricultural crops are forecast.
