On 28 November 2017 in the city of Veliko Tarnovo a joint information meeting-seminar will be held by NAAS (Territorial Regional Office Veliko Tarnovo) and the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) - Regional Food Safety Directorate (RFSD) - Veliko Tarnovo on the topic: Balanced fertilization and efficiency of nutrients in vegetable crops. The meeting will also discuss the main requirements for keeping records of plant protection activities and fertilizers applied on the farm.

At the event, Associate Professor Margarita Nikolova, PhD, from the International Potash Institute (IPI) will familiarize the participants in the seminar with balanced fertilization of the main types of vegetable crops, such as potatoes, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, cabbage.

An inspector from RFSD - Veliko Tarnovo will present to the guests the main requirements for keeping records of plant protection activities and fertilizers applied on the farm. Pursuant to the Plant Protection Act, all agricultural producers who produce plants and plant products are obliged to keep records, not to replace the work of agronomists and plant protection specialists, but to actively support their work. By keeping records, a history of the field is maintained, thus facilitating the producer in the following years when it is necessary to refer to the plant protection products (PPPs), fertilizers and nutrients used, as well as when drawing up the crop rotation.

Experts from the Territorial Regional Office of NAAS - Veliko Tarnovo will explain to farmers the opportunities for support of vegetable production under the measures of the Rural Development Programme RDP 2014-2020.
