Potato late blight on tomatoes (Phytophthora infestans)

Watery spots of irregular shape appear on the oldest leaves, covered on the underside with a loose whitish coating – the sporulation of the fungus. Later they turn brown and dry out. Under severe infestation, the entire leaf mass may die. The spots on the leaf and fruit petioles are dry, dark brown, while on the stem they are large and watery and encircle it completely. On the fruits the spots are brown, rough, with a characteristic radiating structure. They rapidly increase in diameter. Under high air humidity, a loose whitish sporulation appears on them. Usually, green fruits are attacked.

Pest control strategy

In the presence of “critical periods”, treatments with plant protection products should be initiated.
