The wheat harvest has been completed. This year again, Bulgarian farmers who have chosen Syngenta wheat varieties are achieving excellent yields. This is due to the high yield potential of the Syngenta varieties on offer and their proven stability and adaptability to the diverse soil and climatic conditions in Bulgaria, as well as to the fact that the first multiplication is produced using Syngenta technology. The Syngenta varieties Moisson, Ingenio, Bologna and Falado are once again in 2017 realizing their high-yield potential in all regions of Bulgaria. Naturally, each of the varieties has its own specific characteristics and main “purpose”: Moisson is an established French genetics, a standard for high yield; Ingenio is a variety which, thanks to its excellent adaptability, is a standard in Spain and provides an excellent balance between yield and quality; Bologna is one of the best-selling varieties in Italy, as it has a high yield potential and impressively high quality indicators; and the new variety Falado is a genetics distinguished by high plasticity, very high yield potential and high quality indicators.
The 2017 results from harvests up to the beginning of July for the Syngenta varieties are impressive and very often leading for the respective region:
INGENIO variety has proven its high adaptability with excellent results throughout Bulgaria and in particular in Northern Bulgaria: an average yield of 779 kg/da and a maximum result of 835 kg/da, with Knezha – 785 kg/da and Kozarevets/Lovech – 835 kg/da standing out; Southern Bulgaria: an average yield of 787 kg/da and a maximum result of 802 kg/da in the village of Dobrich/Haskovo region, as well as another impressive result of 771 kg/da in Mezhda/Burgas.
BOLOGNA variety delivered in Northern Bulgaria an average yield of 728 kg/da and a maximum result of 750 kg/da in Kozarevets/Lovech. In Southern Bulgaria there are also excellent results – an average yield of 709 kg/da and a maximum result of 823 kg/da in Mezhda/Burgas, proving that the variety has a high yield potential that can be realized even under severe climatic conditions (drought).
MOISSON variety – in two words: impressive results. In Northern Bulgaria - an average yield of 801 kg/da and two excellent results of 850 kg/da in Valchedram/Montana and 806 kg/da in Dobrich. In Southern Bulgaria - an average yield of 800 kg/da and a peak result of 861 kg/da in Mezhda/Burgas. These peak results from Moisson in 2017 once again prove the exceptionally high yield potential of this variety.
FALADO variety – new French genetics with a very high yield potential and high quality indicators, which already last year attracted the attention of a large number of farmers and this year delivered excellent yields: in Northern Bulgaria – an average yield of 847 kg/da and several impressive results such as 909 kg/da in Altimil/Montana, 893 kg/da in Knezha, 824 kg/da in Dobrich. In Southern Bulgaria the results are also top-level – an average yield of 856 kg/da and the impressive 935 kg/da in the village of Dobrich/Haskovo region and 885 kg/da in Mezhda/Burgas.
For the first year, under production conditions, a considerable number of Bulgarian farmers were able to see for themselves the exceptionally high yield potential of Hyvido – the first hybrid barley. Hyvido is a hybrid feed barley and is characterized by a higher yield potential than conventional varieties, very high yield stability, peak performance even under severe soil and climatic conditions and drought. It has improved agronomic characteristics: low sowing rate (200 seeds/sq.m), flexibility in sowing time, vigorous start and growth, a larger and more powerful root system, more tillers per plant, more ears and grains. Here is brief information on the harvest results in 2017:
Syngenta’s crop protection technology for growing also contributes significantly to achieving these results, including the herbicides Axial and Axial One and the fungicides Artea, Amistar Extra and Cherokee. A very significant contribution is also made by the two leading seed treatment products – Celest Top and Maxim Star.
Celest Top provides comprehensive fungicidal and insecticidal protection and additionally (registered) stimulating action and has three different modes of action, while Maxim Star is the successfully established Syngenta fungicide for seed treatment, providing uncompromising protection against an extremely broad registered spectrum of diseases, including Fusarium root rot, snow mould, net blotch and smuts, and has long-lasting action.
