In the village of Gavrailovo, Sliven region, from 25 to 27 July, the 16th edition of the „Golden Peach 2017“ is being held. The festival brings together every year peach producers from all over the country, experts from scientific institutes, as well as thousands of admirers of the sweet fruit.
The official ceremony on the occasion of the „Golden Peach 2017” festival will be opened on 27 July at 10 a.m. on the square in front of the municipal building. The event is held under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.
After the solemn opening of the festival, a seminar for producers, discussions and lectures will be held on the state of fruit growing in the country, problems and new opportunities for young farmers. The lecturers will be leading experts from the Fruit Growing Institute in Plovdiv.
An interesting highlight of the peach festival is the organized visit to a peach orchard, to a line for preparation of peaches for export „Bulgarian Peach”, as well as a competition for the best-maintained fruit-bearing peach orchard.
A special programme is dedicated to the children and guests of the village of Gavrailovo. It includes exhibitions of artists, of participants in an amateur photographers’ competition on the theme „The Most Delicious Bulgarian Peach", an exhibition of drawings on the theme „Peach", an exhibition on the theme „The Peach – Past, Present, Future". For those who wish to deepen their culinary knowledge, a demonstration is planned on how peach jam is made.
The event is organized by Sliven Municipality, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, the mayor’s office and the community centre „Sun 1928” in Gavrailovo, the Fruit Growing Institute in Plovdiv, the Peach Producers’ Organization „Bulgarian Peach” Ltd., and the National Agricultural Advisory Service.
