For over 50 years, an international agricultural fair has been held in the French capital, where, of course, French presence is predominant, but the event also focuses on international participation. Initially, the agricultural fair was a place where people with interests primarily in the field of animal husbandry met, but gradually its scope expanded to encompass all other areas of agriculture. This year's fair is held from February 22 to March 2, 2014, and is divided into 4 main sectors: livestock sector, products and gastronomy, crops-plants-nature-lifestyle, and agricultural services and professions. Bulgarian participation is in the products and gastronomy sector, with the goal of the national presentation being to promote Bulgarian products so they can reach French retail chains. The focus of the Bulgarian presentation is mainly organically produced yogurt, dairy products, and wines. Their products were presented by the companies "Aroniada", "Damacena", "Zornitsa Kampani", "Thracian Winery", "Manastira" Winery, "Jam and Jam" Ltd., "Bolyarka VT" JSC, "Olineza" Ltd., "Bioset" Ltd., "Maya-Diy", and "Minkovi Brothers" Winery.
Personally, the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Prof. Dimitar Grekov, will open Bulgaria's stand at the International Agricultural Fair SIA 2014 in Paris, where during his visit he will meet with the French Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Forestry, Stéphane Le Foll. The two ministers discussed matters of mutual interest related to the implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy in both countries.
During his visit to Paris, Minister Grekov also held an interesting meeting with the President of the French Agricultural Chamber, Guy Vasseur. Prof. Grekov emphasized his interest in the activities and experience of the French Agricultural Chamber, particularly regarding the support provided to farmers. The Chamber's President acquainted his Bulgarian guests with the functions and role of the National Agricultural Chamber.
