On 5 April 2017 in Sofia, in the “Large Collegium” Hall of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, a meeting will be held between the Executive Director of EFSA, Dr Bernard Url, and Prof. Dr Hristo Bozukov, Minister of Agriculture and Food.
The host of the visit will be the Risk Assessment Center on Food Chain (RACFC). Dr Url’s visit to Bulgaria is part of an EFSA initiative which envisages that, within a three-year period, the Executive Director will visit all risk assessment institutions in the EU Member States.
EFSA is a single body for risk assessment along the food chain at EU level, established in 2002 on the basis of Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down the general principles and requirements of food law and establishing procedures in matters of food safety.
The main objective of Dr Bernard Url’s visit to Bulgaria is to promote the expansion and improvement of scientific cooperation with national scientific organisations by encouraging work on joint thematic projects and attracting new participants to them.
During the meeting, topics related to the joint efforts for risk assessment and for ensuring food safety at European and national level will be discussed. Other topics to be discussed include the disease Lumpy Skin Disease and the measures taken by Bulgaria, as well as the situation related to neonicotinoids.
You are welcome on 5 April at 12:00 in the “Large Collegium” Hall of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
