Captan 80 WG is a broad-spectrum fungicide by Arysta for the control of a number of economically important diseases in vegetable crops, fruit crops (pome and stone fruits) and berry crops. The fungicide is also included in the National Programme for the Control of Pests in Perennial Crops during the Winter Period 2017.

Mode of action

Captan 80 WG is a contact fungicide with excellent protective activity against a wide range of phytopathogenic fungal diseases. As an inhibitor of oxygen exchange in cellular metabolism, it suppresses spore germination and prevents mycelial development, both in the early and advanced stages of infection. It has a long-lasting effect, which starts immediately after spraying and lasts at least 8–10 days.

Remarks

A maximum of 6 applications per season in pome fruit, including pre-flowering treatments. Do not apply on apple varieties Delicious and Winesap and pear varieties Anjou and Bosc’s Bottle. A maximum of 5 applications per season in stone fruit. Do not carry out other treatments with products containing phthalimides.

Compatibility

Captan 80 WG is compatible with most plant protection products used in practice. Nevertheless, before using mixtures, their compatibility and crop tolerance should be checked. Do not mix with alkaline pyrethroids and mineral oils and do not use immediately after their application. The manufacturer does not bear responsibility for consequences arising from mixing different products.

Crops

Captan 80 WG is applied to the following crops:

tomatoes, apples, pears, quinces, Asian pears “Nashi”, cherries, plums, peaches, nectarines, apricots and strawberries (in greenhouses).

Captan 80 WG acts against the following diseases (pathogens):

· Late blight of potato (Phytophthora infestans),

· Grey mould (Botrytis cinerea),

· Early blight (Alternaria solani),

· Scab (Venturia spp.)

· Early and late brown rot (Monillia spp.)

· Leaf curl (Tafrina cesari)

· Pocket plum (blistering) (Tafrina pruni)

· Shot-hole (Stigmina carpophila)
