Оperational analysis of the main agricultural crops for the month of June

The operational analysis* of the main agricultural crops is periodically prepared by the regional “Agriculture” offices and processed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. It includes data that are not of a statistical nature, but serve only as an indication of the current state of the market and the main agricultural activities carried out. The latest operational analysis refers to 16.06.2016.

Harvest of winter crops

According to operational data, as of 16.06.2016 the harvest of winter crops has started and the first quantities have been gathered – 84 tons of wheat, 26.9 thousand tons of barley and 100 tons of oilseed rape. Compared to the same period of 2015, barley production is 9.3% higher, while that of oilseed rape is 78.6% lower. At this stage, for wheat and oilseed rape – 2016 harvest, a lower average yield is reported compared to the previous year, while for barley – a higher one.

Harvest of spring crops

As of 16.06.2016, 11.6 thousand tons of potatoes, 345 tons of tomatoes, 42 tons of peppers and 3 tons of watermelons have been harvested. Production of tomatoes and peppers is respectively 55.1% and 88.9% below the level reported for the same period of the previous year, while that of potatoes exceeds more than twice the production from one year earlier.

For tomatoes and peppers, a decrease in the average yield is observed compared to the 2015 harvest, by 35.6% and 61.7% respectively. For potatoes, at this stage a higher average yield is reported – by 19.2%.

Permanent crops and essential oil crops

The harvesting of permanent crops and essential oil crops continues. According to operational data, as of 16.06.2016 production has been gathered of cherries in the amount of 15,187 tons, oil-bearing rose – 12,043 tons, strawberries – 4,961 tons, sour cherries – 187 tons, raspberries – 20 tons, apricots – 3 tons and apples – 2 tons. Compared to the same period of 2015, an increase in production and average yields is reported for strawberries, oil-bearing rose and raspberries. For apricots, the average yield per kg has decreased by 66.7% compared to last year.
