Проект "Herbitour": Showcase of the Achievements of Leading Global Companies in Agribusiness

In 2016, it is the 15th anniversary of the launch of the research and implementation project “Herbitour”. The project is led by its founder, Prof. Tonio Tonev, from the Department of Agriculture and Herbology. On the occasion of this anniversary, on 17 and 18 May 2016, Lecture Halls Seven and Eight of the Agricultural University in Plovdiv became a meeting place for third-year students, majoring in Plant Protection, with representatives of eight of the largest companies in the field of the agrochemical and seed industry operating on the Bulgarian market.

The students showed great interest and attended in succession the presentations of the representatives of the companies Syngenta – Ivan Drazhev, Summit Agro – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Miroslav Tityanov, Pioneer – Chavdar Dochev and Ivan Kostadinov, BASF – Varban Varbanov, Ekofol – Tatyana Mihaylova, DuPont – Desislava Georgieva, Bayer – Ivelin Tonchev and Adama – Iliya Slavov. The large number of lecturers, each with their specific expertise and professionalism, will leave an unforgettable memory for the young colleagues. Without exception, each of the eight lecturers encouraged and motivated the students, affirming that they had made an excellent professional choice as future agronomists in plant protection.

After the extended marathon in the lecture halls, on the second day the students had the opportunity to see “live”, in the experimental fields of the Department of Agriculture and Herbology, the effect of the latest herbicides and technologies for weed control in wheat, maize, sunflower and oilseed rape.
