For another consecutive year, Syngenta organized an open day for long-fruited greenhouse cucumber producers. This year, the meeting was organized with the kind assistance of the company "V and VGD Greenhouses Petrich" Ltd., the owner of the largest greenhouse complex in the region.

The goal of the event was the presentation of two new products in Syngenta's portfolio, namely the new greenhouse cucumber hybrid Tribuno and the latest broad-spectrum fungicide for cucumbers - Cidely Top.

The meeting was attended by some of the main producers from the region, who personally saw and were convinced of the hybrid's high yield potential, which is no longer a secret to anyone. Tribuno combines good disease resistance, flexibility regarding the transplanting period, and high yield potential. Tribuno's plasticity allows it to be grown equally well in spring and summer in glass and polyethylene greenhouses. A distinctive feature of the hybrid is its balanced vegetative-generative growth. The plant has medium-sized leaves and is tolerant to flower abortion during the growing season. Tribuno's fruits precisely meet the requirements of the Bulgarian market. They are dark green, shiny, and slightly ribbed. Their length is about 30-34 cm and they do not form a neck. A characteristic feature of the hybrid is the rapid transition of fruiting from the central stem to lateral branches and the high final yield in both spring and summer transplanting.

In plant protection, the focus was on Syngenta's latest fungicide for cucurbit crops. This is currently the only broad-spectrum fungicide in Bulgaria that controls 5 major diseases in cucumbers. Cidely Top has an excellent effect against powdery mildew Podosphaera xanthii, Erysiphe cychoracearum, alternaria Alternaria cucumerina, black stem rot Didymella bryoniae, scab Cladiosporium cucumerinum, anthracnose in cucurbits Colletotrichum lagenarium.

One of the main advantages of Cidely Top is its action through the gas phase, which is crucial in the fight against powdery mildew, especially in crops with a highly developed vegetative mass. In such crops, the penetration of fungicides into the interior of the plants is difficult, but this does not apply to Cidely Top, as through its gas phase the fungicide manages to penetrate deeply. Cidely Top is an innovative product formulated based on two active substances with different modes of action - this increases the fungicide's aggressiveness towards pathogens. The two active substances are from different chemical groups, which in turn prevents the development of resistance. Cidely Top is active against all strains of powdery mildew, even those resistant to triazoles. Cidely Top is recommended for use at the first appearance of disease symptoms. The recommendations are for two applications at 10-day intervals. The application dose of Cidely Top is 100 ml/decare, and the pre-harvest interval is 3 days.
