Young farmers will represent Bulgaria at the Third European Congress of Young Farmers, which is held in the European Parliament in Brussels on 6 and 7 April 2016. The honey producer Petko Simeonov, who was awarded the national prize for his project on mobile beekeeping and an integrated system for the management of bee colonies, will take part in the competition for the European Award.

The organizer of the European Congress of Young Farmers is the Group of the European People's Party in the EP, whose aim is to create a platform for the exchange of good practices and experience in the field of agriculture, attracting primarily young farmers. Other regular participants in these traditional meetings in Brussels are representatives of agribusiness and agricultural institutions at national level. This year, around 200 farmers from a total of 17 Member States are expected to take part.

The Bulgarian representatives are the winners of the national competition for the European Award for Young Farmers, organized and presented by MEP Vladimir Urutchev (EPP/GERB) in 2015, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the National Agricultural Advisory Service. The young farmers will compete for the European Award in three categories: best, most innovative and most sustainable.
