The Agricultural University in Plovdiv has a new Rector

Prof. Dr. Hristina Yancheva is the new Rector of the Agricultural University

At a General Assembly held on 29 January 2016 in the Aula of the Rectorate, Prof. Dr. Hristina Yancheva was elected Rector of the Agricultural University for the 2016–2020 term. Prof. Dr. Yancheva was elected to this position with the votes of 142 delegates out of a total of 182, according to the Agricultural University. Prof. Dr. Yancheva won convincingly in the first round of voting and a runoff was not required.

The other candidates for the position who took part in the competition were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bozhin Bozhinov, Dean of the Faculty of Agronomy, and Prof. Dr. Yanko Dimitrov, Dean of the Faculty of Plant Protection. They received 17 and 16 votes in their support, respectively.

The General Assembly continued with the election of the Academic Council.

Prof. Yancheva had so far been Vice-Rector for Academic and International Affairs. She also served as Acting Rector when Prof. Grekov was Minister of Agriculture. Yancheva has also been Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Agronomy.
