Plovdiv Prosecutor's Office investigates companies trading in plant protection products

In the order of Gergana Mutafova, District Prosecutor of the city of Plovdiv, it is stated that the subject of the inspection is the overall activity of the companies engaged in trade with plant protection products, the regulatory framework under which they carry out their activity, and the lawfulness of the sales performed. The period to be audited is from 1 September 2015 to the present.

On 20.01.2016, the District Prosecutor of the city of Plovdiv – Gergana Mutafova ordered a full inspection of the companies trading in plant protection products on the territory of the municipalities of Plovdiv, Rodopi, Maritsa, Kuklen, Perushtitsa, Krichim, Stamboliyski, Saedinenie, Kaloyanovo, Hisar, Brezovo and Rakovski. It will be carried out jointly by officers of the “Economic Police” Department at the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior – Plovdiv, the Regional Directorate for Food Safety and the National Revenue Agency. It is conducted on the basis of Article 145, paragraph 1, items 1, 3 and 6 of the Judiciary System Act, according to which the prosecutor may request documents, explanations, expert opinions and other materials, as well as assign the competent authorities, where there is information about crimes or unlawful acts and actions, to carry out inspections and audits within a specified period and to submit a conclusion. The reason for carrying out this type of inspection are publications in the media containing information about violations of the law in the storage, trade and use of plant protection products.

The period to be audited is from 1 September 2015 to the present. The deadline for completion is one month. The results of the inspection will be reported to the District Prosecutor’s Office – Plovdiv, where further actions will be determined in view of the violations committed in the trade in plant protection products.
