Mulching is the best time-saving measure in the garden. It is used in both vegetable gardens and ornamental horticulture. Mulched gardens are healthier, with significantly fewer or no weeds, and more drought-resistant than other gardens. This way, we save time on watering, weeding, and will have fewer problems with pests and diseases. There are two main rules for using organic mulch to control weeds. First, we clean the soil, and second - we apply a sufficiently thick layer of mulch to suppress the sprouting of new weeds (5-10 cm). For double mulching, the first mulching layer uses newspaper or cardboard from boxes, and the second layer uses another organic material.
