For the second time, the Farmers' Market Festival will be held in Sofia from October 14th to 18th at various locations in the capital. Over these five days, producers from across the country will present their carefully selected, fresh, and diverse seasonal produce. There will be many surprises – culinary demonstrations, tastings, workshops, training for new small local farmers and food producers, a crafts and art zone.
The event will open on Wednesday, October 14th, with the usual "Ivan Vazov" Farmers' Market from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. On October 15th, you are invited to an open house at the "Friendship Garden" – a demonstration project for urban farming (Urban Farming – Sofia), from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the address:
Druzhba 2, the Greenhouse of the Greenery Department,
Deliyaska Vodenitsa Street, near bus stop "bl. 501" and behind bl. 506.
On the same day, the traditional Garden to Business forum will also take place, where small local producers meet with business partners from Sofia. On October 16th, you can visit the youngest farmers' market, Mladost 1, which takes place every Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Saturday is the day of the Farmers' Market at the Roman Wall during the established hours from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The most colorful and vibrant day will be on October 18th, when the National Farmers' Market will be held in Zaimov Park from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. In addition to an abundance of flavors, the organizers have prepared talks on the topic of why farmers' markets are held and what the challenges are for urban farming. For the producers, there will be advice on how to improve their direct sales. The National Farmers' Market on October 18th is part of the project "Farmers' Markets in Sofia and Plovdiv - Events for Sustainable Development," which is funded by the NGO Support Program in Bulgaria under the EEA Financial Mechanism and is organized by the Hrancoop-Sofia movement.
