Checks on plant protection products

Since the beginning of the year, inspectors from the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) have conducted 4,719 inspections on plant protection products.
The most common violations are related to the trade of unauthorized and unfit plant protection products or those with an expired shelf life. The sale of products with labels containing incorrect usage instructions has also been noted. At some agricultural producers, the use of unauthorized plant protection products was found, as well as unauthorized aerial spraying of cereal crops.
The total number of inspected agricultural producers is 3,419, with 1,300 inspections carried out at trade and storage facilities.
11 Reports have been drawn up at trade facilities, and 392 orders have been issued. During the control activities there, 78 samples were taken to check the compliance of the plant protection products. Inspectors have halted the sale of over 225 kilograms of powdered and nearly 240 liters of liquid products.
During the control over the use of plant protection products by agricultural producers, 7 reports were drawn up, 432 violations were recorded, and 519 orders were issued.
