By the end of September and early October, a significant change in agrometeorological conditions is expected, which will be determined by unstable and cool for the season weather.
During the period, after the prolonged drought, economically significant precipitation is forecast for Western Bulgaria, improving the condition of the upper soil layers and the conditions for seasonal soil cultivation.
In the northeastern and southern regions, against the backdrop of the drought, precipitation will be insufficient and will not lead to a significant change in the conditions for deep plowing and pre-sowing cultivation of areas intended for autumn crops. Due to this objective reason, the sowing of winter rapeseed is in question. Due to the prolonged drought, the agrotechnical deadlines in September for sowing this oilseed crop have been missed.
By the end of September, a large part of the late red wine grape varieties, due to above-normal summer temperatures, will reach technological maturity, while earlier autumn fruit varieties (apples: Golden Pearmain, Jonathan, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Canada Reinette) – will reach harvest maturity.
During the period, no critical minimum temperatures for late-season vegetable crops are forecast in the field areas, which is a prerequisite for harvesting additional produce from crops susceptible to frost (tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, gherkins, etc.).
