Modern strategies for combating the tomato leafminer (Tuta absoluta)

In Yambol region, farmers will learn about good practices in combating the tomato leafminer  in greenhouse conditions. The date of the event is July 17, 2025 (Thursday), and the starting time is 10 a.m.

A seminar with a practical demonstration is organized by the regional office of the National Agricultural Advisory Service (NAAS) in Yambol and Agricultural University – Plovdiv. The topic of the meeting is the pressing problem in recent years with the tomato leafminer (Tuta absoluta).

The seminar will focus on modern strategies for dealing with the pest in greenhouse vegetable production.

Farmers will have the opportunity to hear a lecture by Prof. Vili Harizanova from the Agricultural University in Plovdiv, who will present the possibilities for phytosanitary monitoring and decision-making for the control of the tomato leafminer. A demonstration  of good  plant protection practices in combating  the tomato leafminer  will be shown at the farm of farmer Mityo Mitev in the village of Zimnitsa, Straldzha Municipality, Yambol District.

Attendees will also be familiarized with the possibilities for supporting farmers through interventions from the Strategic Plan for Agricultural and Rural Development (SPARD) 2023-2027.
