The official opening of the 2025 Harvest Campaign will take place on June 17 at 10:00 AM in the lands of "Agro - Tsar Petrovo", Vidin region. The host of the event is Victor Rombaut, announced the National Association of Grain Producers (NAGP).

For another year, the Association will mark the most important day for every farmer - the start of the harvest - with a rich accompanying program, demonstrations, and field practices.

Within the framework of the event, the following are planned: a ceremonial rye harvest as part of the European initiative "Bread of Peace"; an open day for regenerative agriculture, an exhibition of agricultural machinery and products - direct drills, combines, tractors, sprayers with cameras, plant protection products, fertilizers and other innovations; an experimental field with soft and durum wheat from "RAGT"; presentations on the practices, challenges, and solutions at the "Agro Tsar Petrovo" farm.

The „Bread of Peace“ project is a European initiative involving twelve countries from Central and Eastern Europe, including Bulgaria. For the first time in 2012, the rye harvested from the field around the Church of Reconciliation in Berlin – the site of the former „death strip” of the Berlin Wall – was sent to each participating country.

Since 2013, the rye seeds from the field around the Church of Reconciliation in Berlin have been cultivated in symbolic and historically significant locations of the turning point in the countries of Central and Southeast Europe that joined the European Union after 1989.

In 2014, when 25 years marked the fall of the Berlin Wall,  a symbolic part of the rye harvests from the participating countries in the project was sent to Berlin for the first time. This „anniversary rye“ is mixed with the rye collected in Berlin, milled, and baked into a common European „Bread of Peace“.

The “Bread of Peace” project is organized with the support of the Federal Minister of Agriculture, Food and Consumer Protection of Germany and the agricultural ministries of the included countries.  Besides Germany, 11 other EU member states from Central and Southeast Europe participate: Bulgaria, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Croatia.

The symbolic harvest began first in Yambol region

This year, the first harvest in the country took place on June 12 in Yambol region. The symbolic harvest began in Tundzha municipality,  which has over 1 million decares of arable land.

Producers in the region expect relatively high average yields, despite the snow in April.

According to data from the Regional Directorate "Agriculture“, nearly 663,000 decares of wheat and about 79,000 decares of barley have been sown in the region.
