Over the past three months of the project, organized by BAFSA, a total of 1353 agricultural producers from the country have been trained. "This exceeds the initially planned number by 113," said the project manager Anton Velichkov, Deputy Executive Director of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency.
A total of 39 seminars were held within the project. The agricultural producers acquired knowledge regarding the legislation concerning integrated pest management and became familiar with the general and specific principles of integrated pest management for agricultural crops. All those who completed the training received a Certificate, with which they can apply for the issuance of a License, which grants them the right to apply and use plant protection products from the professional category.
The project is being implemented under contract No.29/111/00266 of 06.02.2015 concluded between the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BAFSA) and the State Fund "Agriculture", under Measure 111 "Vocational training, information activities and dissemination of scientific knowledge", of the Rural Development Programme for the period 2007-2013 (RDP), supported by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) "Europe invests in rural areas".
