From 24 March to 9 May 2025, farmers may apply for support for the first stage under the scheme “Aid for compensating the costs of farmers related to the implementation of measures under the National Programme for the Control of Pests in Permanent Crops during the Winter Period”.

The Management Board of the State Fund “Agriculture“ (SFA) has approved a budget of BGN 10,000,000 under the scheme for 2025.
The state aid aims to minimise as far as possible the losses of farmers from the spread of pests in permanent crops (pome and stone fruit species, strawberries, raspberries and oil-bearing rose).
The aid is granted in two stages – in spring and autumn.
Support is provided to farmers growing permanent crops for up to 100% of their costs for the purchase of plant protection products used for the control and limitation of pest spread, in accordance with the National Programme, for the so-called “winter spraying”.
Up to BGN 380 including VAT is granted for plant protection products under the first stage. It covers the period from the end of the cold spell to the swelling of the fruit buds.
Applications for participation in the scheme are accepted at the regional offices of the SFA. Farmers must report the incurred expenses and submit documents for the purchased and applied plant protection products by 9 May 2025.

By 9 June 2025, the SFA will pay the financial aid under the scheme.
Expenses for plant protection products incurred during the current year are eligible.
The eligible plant protection products used for the control and limitation of pest spread in permanent crops are described in the National Programme for the Control of Pests in Permanent Crops during the Winter Period, published on the website of the BFSA, in the section “National Programmes“:

The guidelines for the implementation of the state aid are published on the SFA website in the section “Support schemes and measures“, subsection “State aid“ – “Short-term support schemes“.
