For the benefit of all vegetable producers, the agrochemistry laboratory of the Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute – Plovdiv will perform free soil sampling until the end of March.

In the institute’s laboratory, analyses of soil samples are carried out to determine the soil’s nutrient content, which is important not only for crop development, but also for fertilization rates in the different stages of growth.

Assoc. Prof. Ivanka Trangovska, PhD, recommends that soil analysis be performed before the growing season and several times during the vegetation period. In this way, producers will understand whether the crops they grow receive the necessary nutrients, in accordance with the specific crop type, growth stage, and specific conditions on the farm.

To carry out a soil analysis, it is necessary to take a soil sample from several locations in the field or greenhouse at a depth of 0 to 30 cm. About 1 kg of sample must be brought to the laboratory.

The specialists at the Maritsa Vegetable Crops Research Institute perform soil analysis and prepare fertilization recommendations.

“If you are a vegetable producer, now is a very suitable time to carry out a soil analysis,” shares Assoc. Prof. Trangovska.
