The Path of Wheat: 50 Varieties in Action

The Dobrudzha Union of Grain Producers is launching the project “The Path of Wheat”, which will bring together in several fields near the village of Geshanovo in the Dobrich region 50 wheat varieties provided by leading breeding companies such as IRGR Sadovo, EM Leader, LG, Syngenta, Sumi Agro, Atlanta Seed, Soufflet agro Bulgaria, Lidea, KWS, Dobrudzha Agricultural Institute, Rapool, Agredo, Balea Group. The project focuses on the adaptation of wheat to the climatic conditions of the region, its resistance to diseases, and its yield potential. “Our goal is to monitor the development of the wheat varieties throughout the entire growing season under the specific soil and climatic conditions of Dobrudzha. Through the project, we will collect detailed information on the agronomic characteristics of each variety,” commented Radostina Zhekova, Chair of the Dobrudzha Union of Grain Producers.

The project combines traditional agronomic approaches with new technologies and aims to provide valuable information to farmers so they can optimize their agricultural practices.

In addition to innovative technologies, of great importance for the project is the inclusion of Bulgarian wheat varieties. In this way, it will be observed how the Bulgarian varieties perform under the contemporary climatic conditions in Dobrudzha.

The farmers participating in the project will have access to the information from the demo fields through the platform “The Path of Wheat”. Thus, they will have the opportunity to make an informed choice regarding the varieties they will use.
