During the next seven-day period, the agrometeorological conditions will undergo a substantial change. In Western Bulgaria, a significant decrease in temperatures is forecast, but without critical minimum values for the autumn crops that are lagging in their development. The cold spell at the beginning of December will lead to a slowdown, and in the higher fields, where the formation of a snow cover is expected, to a cessation of the vegetation processes in the winter cereal crops.
In most of the eastern and southern regions, the forecast average daily temperatures will be close to the biological minimum required for the development of the winter cereal crops. Conditions for vegetation in the autumn crops will develop in the regions along the Black Sea coast, where higher temperatures are forecast.
The expected precipitation during the period will increase the soil moisture reserves in the upper soil layers. This precipitation will be delayed for part of the crops in some places in the central and southern regions, where, due to a deficit of soil moisture, the germinated winter cereal crops failed to emerge. As a result of the prolonged autumn drought, a large part of the winter cereal crops are poorly established, at an initial stage of development, and the stands have uneven density. At the beginning of December, the following stages will be observed in wheat: emergence, 1–2 and 3 leaves. A small part of the stands in the northeastern regions, where moisture during the first half of autumn was not a limiting factor, are at the tillering stage (the region of Provadia) – the appropriate stage for overwintering.
During the period, more suitable conditions for planting fruit trees will occur in the eastern regions of the country.
