IV International Green Biotechnology Congress (INTERNATIONAL GREEN BIOTECHNOLOGY CONGRESS) on the topic: „Biotechnology for Agricultural Sustainability in the Era of Climate Change" will be held from 7 to 8 November in Sofia, Expo Hotel, as announced by the Agricultural Academy.

The main challenge facing modern agriculture in the 21st century is to ensure a healthy environment and climate-resilient crops in order to achieve food security at regional and global level.

Biotechnology is a powerful tool for facilitating and developing sustainable agriculture by increasing yields, resistance to biotic and abiotic stress, and improving the nutritional content of crops. In the era of green technologies, agricultural scientists are equipped with multidisciplinary approaches that combine plant science, engineering, chemistry, food processing and economics for the welfare of society. The conference will open a discussion on the prospects of green technologies for the development of climate-resilient agriculture.

The conference will be hosted by the Agricultural Academy, under the patronage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Ministry of Education, with the support of the „Science Research“ Fund.

The conference programme will focus on the following thematic areas:

• Plant genomics and metabolomics

• Precision plant breeding – marker-assisted selection, genome editing techniques, plant phenomics

• Plant cell and tissue culture

• Beneficial soil microbiomes, phytoremediation, biotechnological tools for the management of soil fertility, plant growth and plant health.
