Good conditions for carrying out pre-sowing tillage

At the end of September and the beginning of October, the agrometeorological conditions in the field areas of the country will continue to be determined by relatively dry weather and average daily temperatures above the climatic norms for the end of September. These conditions will allow the harvesting of the crop from late wine grape varieties that have reached technological maturity earlier than the usual dates.

A change in the agrometeorological conditions is forecast from Sunday. The expected agriculturally significant precipitation in many places in the field areas of Central and Northeastern Bulgaria will improve the moisture content of the upper soil layers and the conditions for performing pre-sowing soil tillage and deep ploughing. In these regions, the precipitation will provide the necessary moisture for the initial stages of development of the sown winter oilseed rape. The crops must be monitored for the presence and harmful activity of the common vole, given the favourable conditions for the pest’s population increase. During the second half of the period, a substantial decrease in the average daily temperatures is forecast, and at the end of the period there will be conditions for the formation of frost and a risk of frost damage to the produce from late vegetable production.
