On 9 and 10 August 2024, in the town of Loznitsa, the 9th National Specialized Exhibition for Soft Fruits and the Raspberry Festival - Loznitsa 2024 will be held.
Experts from the Ministry of Agriculture, the State Fund „Agriculture“, regional representatives of the „Agriculture“ Directorates, experts from „Irrigation Systems“ EAD, as well as from the Agricultural Advisory Services from Targovishte, Razgrad, Shumen and other regional cities in the area are expected to take part in the official opening, the association announced. Participation has been confirmed by foreign guests and exhibitors from Romania, Poland, Serbia, Turkey, China and others.
As is traditional, fresh soft fruits, traditional foods, juices, jams, wine and soft drinks will be presented. The organizers have planned a competition for homemade raspberry jam, as well as a culinary exhibition.
On the first day, the event will begin with a press conference with the Minister of Agriculture and Food and his team from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the State Fund Agriculture, as well as a brief explanatory presentation regarding the new programming period, new measures and programmes, and the new requirements and conditionalities for raspberry growers and soft fruit producers as a specific sector.
A discussion will be held on specific issues of agricultural producers in raspberry production in the town of Loznitsa and in the country, related to problems with irrigation, lack of adequate protection from global climate change and its negative impact on the cultivation of soft fruits. The conflict in Ukraine and its direct and indirect impact on agricultural production in Bulgaria and the crisis that has arisen in Europe at all levels, such as markets, energy carriers, fertilizers, fuels and others, and measures for compensatory protection of producers from this situation will also be discussed.
The guests will visit the largest cold storage facility in the region, and representatives of the National Agricultural Advisory Service will give a presentation on the possibilities for organizing effective and profitable raspberry production and diversification of farms to reduce risk.
On Saturday (10 August) there will be a visit to production demonstration fields with soft fruits in the region of the town of Loznitsa, at the farm of Ayhan Nashimov, which has trial fields for the demonstration of unmanned ground and aerial drones, machinery, equipment and irrigation systems, hail and adverse climate protection, as well as new innovative high-yielding raspberry varieties resistant to climatic impacts.
The event is organized by the Bulgarian Association of Raspberry and Soft Fruit Growers.
