"The Golden Peaches" of the village of Gavrailovo

For another year, the village of Gavrailovo, Sliven Municipality, will host the festival “Golden Peach”, which will be held on 25 and 26 July (Thursday and Friday) 2024.

The festival will open with an exhibition of artists on Thursday at 18:00.

The official opening, the lecture session and the festive programme with a peach exhibition will take place on the following day, Friday.

Within the framework of the festival, NAAS is also organising a competition for the “Best Maintained Fruit-bearing Peach Orchard”, with the prizes for the first, second and third place winners to be provided with the support of the Service.

On the 26th (Friday) at 10:30 in the hall of the community centre “Slantse 1928” a joint seminar of NAAS and the Fruit Growing Institute – Plovdiv will begin, with the participation of leading experts from the Fruit Growing Institute - Plovdiv – Assist. Sashka Savchovska and Prof. DSc Zarya Rankova on the topic: “Presentation of good practices in peach cultivation in orchards in the region of Sliven”.

The experts of NAAS will present:

- Good practices in peach cultivation in orchards in the region of Sliven;

- Opportunities for support to small, young and new farmers under the Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas (SPDAR) 2023 – 2027 through the interventions: II.D.1. – “Start-up aid for the establishment of young farmers in agriculture”; II.D.2. – “Support for very small farms”; II.D.3 – “Start-up aid for the establishment of new farmers in agriculture”; II.I.1. “Advisory services and strengthening advisory capacity”.

The organisers of the festival are: Sliven Municipality; the Ministry of Agriculture; Sliven Municipal Council; the mayor’s office and the community centre “Slantse 1928” in the village of Gavrailovo; the Fruit Growing Institute - Plovdiv; the peach producer organisation “Bulgarian Peach” and NAAS.

The festival is held under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture and Food.
