Demo Day at IZK “Maritsa” – protection and control against pests in vegetable crops

Pests of vegetable crops – prevention and control. Measure for tomato leafminer. Challenges related to climate change, biotic and abiotic stress.  

Vegetable crops are attacked by many pests belonging to various orders and families. In recent years, dynamic changes in species composition and population dynamics have been observed. Some of the dominant pests are giving way to others that were less numerous. New invasive species are entering and expanding their ranges. This is largely due to climate change, intensive product exchange, the introduction of new intensive cultivation technologies, and other factors. How to protect vegetable crops from pests, limit and control them – this question faces all of us, producers and consumers alike, and requires a comprehensive approach and knowledge.
This is the topic of the next demo day at the "Maritsa" Vegetable Crops Institute, which will take place on June 4th at 10:00 AM.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vinelina Yankova will present which pests affect vegetable crops and how to deal with them. She will demonstrate technology for precise fertilization and irrigation of vegetables. The topic of biostimulants and their benefits will also be discussed.
