Students from the Agricultural University – nominated for the national award “Student of the Year”

The national award “Student of the Year” was established at the beginning of 2026 on the initiative of the delegates to the General Assembly of the National Representation of Student Councils and is held jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science.

The competition aims to promote the achievements of Bulgarian students from all fields and higher education as a constructive element of every society.

The awards in the “Student of the Year 2023” competition were presented at a formal ceremony on 1 March 2024 in Aula Maxima of UNWE. “Student of the Year 2023” was held under the patronage of Acad. Nikolay Denkov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria.

In the category “Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine” the awards were presented by the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Kiril Vatev, who wished the participants to “change the maxim that the wise one always gives way and always prove that the wiser one succeeds, because they know, are capable and act!”

The most successful students from the Agricultural University, Stefan Yanev and Tsvetomir Koev, ranked second and third after the winner in the category “Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine” – Blagovesta Slavcheva, majoring in “Veterinary Medicine” at Trakia University – Stara Zagora.

Stefan Yanev, who is an alumnus of the Agricultural University, is in his final year of the Bachelor’s programme in “Plant Protection”.

Tsvetomir Koev is the other student nominated for the “Student of the Year” award, majoring in “Agronomy and Field Crop Production” at the Agricultural University – Plovdiv.

The awards of the “Student of the Year” prize are yet another proof that young people receive the best and highest-quality agricultural education at the Agricultural University – Plovdiv.

Among the official guests at the event were the Prime Minister Acad. Nikolay Denkov, the Minister of Education and Science Galin Tsokov, the Minister of Youth and Sports Dimitar Iliev, the Minister of e-Government Aleksandar Yolovski, the Minister of Environment and Water Yulian Popov, the Minister of Innovation and Growth Milena Stoycheva and the Mayor of Sofia Municipality Vasil Terziev.
