Meetings with Orchids at the Botanical Garden of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences

In February and March it is time to encounter some of the most impressive plants in terms of their colours, namely orchids. In many botanical gardens and cities in the Northern Hemisphere during this period of the year various exhibitions and events related to these incredibly beautiful plants are organized. The Botanical Garden of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is no exception and for the 19th time presents the uniqueness of the Orchid family.
The Orchid family – orchids, are a symbol of beauty and originality. They are the largest plant family in the world and are also the most numerous in the collections of the Botanical Garden of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
The orchid exhibition in Sofia will take place from 24 February to 9 March.
Every day from 10:00 to 17:00 visitors will be able to meet beautiful and original plants and receive consultations on their diversity, cultivation and treatment. Talks on orchids will be held on 24 and 25 February and on 2, 3, 4 March from 13:00. Talks with demonstrations from 15:00 on the following dates:
2 March – Repotting and care for some of the most popular orchids: Phalaenopsis for beginners.
3 March – Repotting terrestrial orchids (Cymbidium, lady’s slipper orchids).
4 March – Orchids in baskets and mounted on blocks.
At the moment the greenhouses are in bloom and fragrant – moth orchids, Cymbidiums, Dendrobiums. Anthuriums, azaleas and camellias are also in bloom.
Visitors to the Botanical Garden of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will be able to buy young plants for the home and garden from more than 500 species.
